Real Madrid handed boost as key midfielder will be available for Elche clash | OneFootball

Following the international break, Real Madrid will return to action this Sunday with an away La Liga game against Elche.

Leading up to the match, manager Xabi Alonso has received mixed update regarding fitness and injuries.

Eder Militao is out for two weeks with an injury, which comes as a major blow, while Antonio Rudiger is still not ready and David Alaba is once again dealing with muscle overload.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Camavinga, Kylian Mbappe, and Dean Huijsen are all fit and available after returning early from national team duty with minor fitness issues.

Aurelien Tchouameni set to be available

In another bit of positive news, Guillermo Rai of The Athletic reports that Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni will likely be available to travel for the Elche game.

The French international suffered an injury earlier this month and, as a result, ended up missing the game against Rayo Vallecano just before the international break.

Tchouameni’s return was initially expected to take place next week, either against Olympiacos or Girona.

However, his recovery has progressed very well, with the player having been training on the field with the ball throughout the week.

And, as things stand, the indications within the club are that Tchouameni will be available for the trip to Elche on Sunday.

It will come as a timely boost for Real Madrid, given that the midfielder is an important part of Xabi Alonso’s tactical setup.

So far this season, the 25-year-old has featured in 15 of Real Madrid’s 16 games in all competitions, starting 14.

Furthermore, Tchouameni’s presence provides the manager with an added option in central defence at a time when Real Madrid are short on numbers in the position.
