Real Madrid are refusing to close the door on Michael Olise just yet.

The Bayern Munich winger remains one of the club’s biggest transfer ambitions this summer and, while those within Valdebebas know the chances of signing him are slim, they also believe the story is far from over.

According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, in information relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Olise is expected to hold talks with Bayern Munich once the World Cup comes to an end. 

It must be remembered that the German champions want to reward the French international with a new contract, but those discussions could also pave the way for Olise to Santiago Bernabeu.

Florentino Perez has not looked elsewhere

Over the past few months, the 24-year-old has established himself as Florentino Perez’s preferred attacking target, with the Madrid president convinced the Frenchman can be his new Galactico signing.

That is why the club has continued to monitor his situation instead of moving on to alternative targets.

The obstacle, however, remains the fact that Bayern have iterated that Olise is part of their long-term plans and have shown no interest in opening negotiations. 

Post-World Cup discussion will be crucial

Despite Bayern’s confidence, the upcoming meeting has naturally attracted attention.

If Olise informs that he is happy in Munich and ready to extend his stay, Real Madrid will almost certainly accept that the opportunity has gone.

But if the conversation takes a different direction, the picture could change.

Hawkins reports that Real Madrid are prepared to move if the player expresses a desire to leave, although everyone involved understands that Bayern would still be under no obligation to sell.

The report even suggests it could take an offer in excess of €200 million before Bayern seriously consider changing their position.

For now, Real Madrid remain mindful of the strong relationship they have built with Bayern over the years, meaning that the two clubs are not expected to engage in unnecessary pressure tactics, preferring transparent communication if the situation calls for it.
