Real Madrid may have another important transfer decision to make this summer as the future of Victor Munoz continues to attract growing attention across Europe.

According to AS, the Spanish giants are carefully monitoring the progress of the striker, who has enjoyed an impressive campaign at Osasuna and significantly boosted his reputation over the past year.

The forward is currently focused on Spain’s World Cup preparations, but interest in his services continues to rise, especially after a strong season with Osasuna.

Fortunately for Real Madrid, they still retain considerable control over the player’s future.

When Munoz left the club for Osasuna, Real Madrid ensured several protective clauses were included in the agreement.

Those conditions include a buy-back option valid for three seasons, a right of first refusal and a percentage of any future transfer fee.

As a result, any major development involving the striker is likely to involve the Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy in one way or another.

Real Madrid monitoring situation

The report states that the player’s representative, Juanma Lopez, has already sought clarity from Real Madrid regarding their intentions.

At present, however, the Los Blancos do not appear ready to bring the striker back immediately.

However, that does not mean Real Madrid have lost interest. Instead, the current feeling is that Munoz is not part of the club’s short-term recruitment plans for the upcoming transfer window.

Even so, they will continue to monitor him for the next season.

Interest is growing

It must be noted that Munoz’s strong performances have created a growing market around him, and several clubs are prepared to invest heavily in order to secure his signature.

In that regard, teams from both the Premier League and Serie A have already made enquiries regarding his contractual situation and future availability.

Osasuna are fully aware of that reality and know there is increasing demand for one of their most valuable assets, who has a release clause worth €40 million.

So what now?

Even if Los Blancos are not planning an immediate first-team role for Munoz, they remain in a powerful negotiating position.

The buy-back clause and right of first refusal allow the club to react if they believe another team is about to secure a player with significant long-term potential.

However, unlike reports in Spanish media, Real Madrid are not really looking to bring him back this summer because they are well covered in the positions he plays, but they will also not lose sight of him too.
