Earlier this week, Real Madrid confirmed the return of Jose Mourinho as manager, 13 years after his first spell at the Bernabeu. The Portuguese had an agreement in place for a number of weeks prior to the announcement, but the presidential election held up the process – although it did serve to build excitement.
One person linked with Real Madrid that has expressed his delight at Mourinho’s return is Pepe. The former defender spoke on his compatriot to the media, as per Marca.
“The most important thing is that the club is united. It was an important moment to have that union between the club, the fans and the players. Mourinho is a fundamental piece for everyone to be on the same page and help Real Madrid to return. I’m sure he’s going to win titles again.”

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Pepe was being considered to join Mourinho’s Real Madrid coaching staff. The former defender denied this, although he admitted that he would welcome his own return to the Bernabeu.
“It has all been speculation. I woke up one morning and wondered what was going on here, I hadn’t heard anything. When we talk about Real Madrid, I am always very pleasant. You never know. If someone needs me, like today, to play and help people, I’m always available for Real Madrid.”
Pepe was also asked for his opinion on Real Madrid’s moves for Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva.
“I like it, I like it. I hope he’s better than me, it would be a sign that things are going well here in Real Madrid and that titles are won. That’s what I want. (Silva) has a lot of quality, yes. It’s true that he’s free. I don’t know if it’s a possibility, but the president knows what’s best for the squad.”
