Real Madrid have an overcrowded first-team squad at their disposal, and Jose Mourinho will want to prune it before the start of the new season.

Los Blancos have made four signings this summer, with a fifth on the way in the form of Yan Diomande. The club are also working on a sixth signing in Rodri.

Thus, Real Madrid are considering moves away for Raul Asencio, Gonzalo Garcia and Franco Mastantuono as the club work to reshape the squad before the transfer window closes.

Indeed, according to COPE, the aforementioned three players are currently viewed as the most likely candidates to leave either permanently or on loan.

However, their situations are not identical, and two of them are understood to be reluctant to depart.

The defender appears determined to fight for his place, which is understandable after being involved during pre-season and receiving opportunities to show what he can offer.

His future may still depend on how Mourinho assesses the defensive hierarchy once the full squad is available.

Mastantuono is also said to prefer staying at the Santiago Bernabeu. This contradicts previous claims that he is keen on returning to River Plate on loan.

It has been revealed that Los Blancos are keen on him going out on loan but staying in Europe to aid his development.

Gonzalo waiting on Fulham talks

Garcia’s situation appears more advanced. The striker is waiting to see whether Real Madrid and Fulham can reach an agreement.

The Cottagers, led by Alvaro Arbeloa, have already been linked with a major contract proposal for the Real Madrid academy graduate, but any move still depends on negotiations between the clubs.

Unlike Asencio and Mastantuono, Gonzalo may have a clearer route to regular football away from Real Madrid.

Competition in attack is intense, and a move to the Premier League could offer him the consistent senior minutes that may be difficult to find under Mourinho.

Real Madrid must balance depth and development

From Real Madrid’s perspective, the challenge is deciding which players genuinely need first-team exposure elsewhere and which can contribute this season.

Keeping every talented youngster is emotionally appealing, but it can become harmful if they spend months without meaningful minutes.

At the same time, selling them does not make much sense unless the club keep some sort of control over their future.

To their credit, Los Blancos have handled such situations very well in the recent past and will hope to come up with creative solutions for the trio this summer.
