After finalising deals for Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva, Real Madrid have turned their attention to exits. They have already parted ways with Dani Ceballos, and in the coming weeks, there will be more players leaving the Bernabeu, both on loan or via permanent deals.

Fran Garcia is poised to leave as Cucurella’s arrival has left Real Madrid with four left-backs, while Raul Asencio also has options to leave due to Konate being signed. They are not the only defenders with chances to leave, as teenage talent Joan Martinez is also attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window opening on Wednesday.

According to Marca, Valencia are one of the teams interested in Martinez, and they have already held talks with Real Madrid over a summer deal. Los Che view the 18-year-old with good eyes, and they see him as someone that could freshen up their centre-back options going into the 2026-27 season.

Loan with buy option has been proposed

As per the report, Valencia want to sign Martinez on loan, but during talks with Real Madrid, they proposed including an option to buy. They are willing to agree to Los Blancos keeping a significant sell-on in the event that this clause were to be activated, although the discussions have not progressed beyond this point.

Whenever Real Madrid feel that a player is too good for Castilla, they look to sell them while retaining a sell-on/buy-back clause. They rate Martinez very highly, and if he is also deemed to have outgrown the B team, he too could be allowed to depart this summer in order to seek regular playing time in La Liga.

What’s clear is that Real Madrid will look to retain control over Martinez’s future in the event that he ends up joining Valencia permanently, as they view him as one of La Fabrica’s brightest talents.
