Real Madrid’s defensive woes have taken them all the way to Italy, with reports from Gianluca Di Marzio confirming that they are showing a strong interest in Bologna’s 26-year-old defender, Sam Beukema.
This season, Beukema has impressed with his performances, following a solid campaign last year. His consistent displays have caught the attention of several top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Inter Milan.
Additionally, Premier League teams have also shown interest in him for the upcoming transfer windows.
The Dutch defender’s rise began under the guidance of Thiago Motta at Bologna last season, and he has continued to impress with his performances under coach Vincenzo Italiano.
Beukema’s talent is becoming increasingly hard to ignore, especially for major European clubs.
Recently, both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid scouts were seen watching him during Bologna’s match against Lille, signalling their keen interest in the player.

Atletico, in particular, is expected to monitor Beukema closely as they prepare for the summer transfer market.
In Italy, clubs are also taking note of his progress. Juventus are reportedly keeping an eye on Beukema for next season, partly due to the bond he shares with Motta, under whom he flourished.
Inter Milan are also assessing him for a potential move in the 2025/2026 season, recognising his defensive capabilities and potential for growth.
Beukema’s development this season has been remarkable. He has emerged as Bologna’s standout defender, leading the team in key statistics such as completed passes, aerial duels won, and defensive clearances per game.
His performances in the Champions League have further highlighted his abilities, as he ranks second for attempted defensive clearances and completed passes among his teammates.
Bologna are well aware of his rising profile and are eager to keep him at the club, but it seems inevitable that top European clubs will continue to circle around the talented Dutchman.
