Real Madrid went into the 2024/25 season without an established out-and-out centre-forward, utilising marquee summer signing Kylian Mbappe as the No. 9 with teenage prospect Endrick as backup.
The move did not work according to plans in the early stages of the season, with the 26-year-old French superstar not looking comfortable playing through the middle, giving manager Carlo Ancelotti a headache.
While Real Madrid appear to have found a way around the issue, they remain on the lookout for a top striker, as indicated by their continued interest in Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.
However, it seems that the reigning champions of Spain and Europe are also keeping tabs on another prolific goalscorer who is set to be in huge demand come summer.
Indeed, according to Sky Sport Germany, Real Madrid are among a plethora of top European teams keeping tabs on Sporting CP and Sweden centre-forward Viktor Gyokeres.

One of the most in-form strikers in Europe over the past year or so, the 26-year-old has already netted 30 goals from just 28 games this season, while adding six assists to his tally as well.
Manchester City are understood to be keen on signing Gyokeres, along with their neighbours Manchester United, who recently appointed ex-Sporting coach Ruben Amorim as their manager.
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona are also pursuing the striker and it appears that Real Madrid are also monitoring him, along with Bayern Munich as well.
The report adds that Gyokeres has decided not to leave Sporting in January and any transfer for him would have to wait until the summer window.
At that point, it is suggested that he could have an agreement to leave the Portuguese outfit for a fee of around €60-70 million.
Only time will tell whether Real Madrid intend to act upon their tentative interest in Gyokeres in the future or continue to wait on Haaland, whose release clause becomes active this summer.
