Real Madrid legend leaves possibility open for future comeback as manager – ‘I will come back’ | OneFootball

Raul Gonzalez Blanco, Real Madrid legend and former manager of Castilla for the past six years, has spoken openly about his time at the club, his relationship with young talents, and what the future may hold for him.

In an appearance on the podcast Con Mucho De, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Raul praised current first-team forward Gonzalo Garcia, a player who came through Castilla under his guidance.

“I’ve had Gonzalo for two years and I think I’ve given him that final push, especially last season, when he was at a very high level.

“And now he’s taking advantage of that momentum and doing very well with the first team,” Raul explained.

On managing young players

The former forward also spoke about what it means to be in charge of a young squad and the challenges of managing a locker room filled with ambition.

“When you’re a coach, you have to lead your coaching staff and you have to lead 20 kids, who all believe they’re good and who all have to play.

“To me, the truth is that this period seems like it’s been wonderful, because I’ve seen many kids grow up who are now playing in the first division,” he reflected.

This summer marks the first time in years that Raul does not have a project in hand. Even so, he remains calm and confident that the right chance will arrive soon.

For Raul, Real Madrid remains home, and he does not hide his belief that he will return one day.

“I’ve been at the club where I wanted to be and where my home is, and I know I’ll come back again when the time is right, at another time,” he commented.

For now, Raul leaves behind a legacy at Castilla that produced several players now thriving in Spain’s top flight, while keeping an eye on the next chapter in his coaching career.
