Departing Real Madrid star Luka Modrić is closing on an imminent move to Serie A, with AC Milan.

That’s according to Italian transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, who has on Tuesday evening provided an update on the situation.

Croatian international Modrić is of course primed to bring his legendary stint on the books of Real Madrid to a close over the weeks ahead.

After the brass in Spain’s capital made the call not to renew the 39-year-old’s expiring contract, Modrić was made aware that the upcoming Club World Cup would mark his Blancos swan song.

A whole host of clubs from across Europe and beyond, in turn, have been credited with an interest in the midfielder’s signing.

And if the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, one such club now appear to have taken a clear lead in the Modrić sweepstakes.

As per a report from the aforementioned Gianluca Di Marzio:

‘AC Milan are confident of having the signature of Luka Modrić by tomorrow. In the last few hours, the Rossoneri club has received the yes of the Croatian midfielder.’
