Real Madrid are eager to add more Spanish players to their roster in the near future, considering their reduced representation in the La Roja squad in recent times.

After all, Dani Carvajal happens to be the only Real Madrid player who is a regular in the Spain national team under manager Luis de La Fuente.

While Los Blancos do have other Spanish stars like Lucas Vazquez, Dani Ceballos, Fran Garcia, and breakthrough talent Fran Garcia, none of them feature in the Spanish national team picture and have not done so for a while.

As such, Real Madrid are intent on reinforcing the Spanish contingent in their squad in the coming transfer windows and one player, in particular, appeals to them greatly.

Real Madrid love Martin Zubimendi

Indeed, according to journalist Rodra P, Real Madrid ‘love’ Real Sociedad and Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi and have him on their list of future reinforcements.

Zubimendi, 25, is one of La Liga’s leading central midfielders and was part of the La Roja squad that won the UEFA Euro 2024 last summer.

The midfielder has been attracting the interest of several European heavyweights, including Manchester City and Liverpool, for some time now.

With a €60 million release clause embedded in his contract at Real Sociedad, Zubimendi is expected to be on the move soon.

And, Real Madrid intend to position themselves as a contender to sign the Spanish international, with the idea being to reunite him with Xabi Alonso – who happens to be the leading candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti either in 2025 or 2026.

The possibility of the Spanish duo’s arrival has created excitement at Valdebebas, although it has been made clear that their signing will not be a package deal, but two separate operations.

As far as Real Sociedad are concerned, they could already be preparing for their ace midfielder’s departure, with Jon Gorrotxategi (currently on loan at Mirandes) being eyed as Zubimendi’s successor.
