Real Madrid will be gunning for their seventh win of the season across all competitions when they take on UD Levante later tonight at Ciutat de Valencia.

With not much time between their last match and this one, and the team set to play Atletico Madrid at the weekend, manager Xabi Alonso is set to rotate his lineup heavily, reports Miguel Angel Diaz on COPE.

Federico Valverde at right-back?

As per the report, one of the changes could see Dani Carvajal being rested, making way for Federico Valverde to start as a makeshift right-back.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold out injured, Alonso does not have a direct cover in the right-back position.

Even though Valverde had previously expressed his reluctance about being deployed in that role, it appears that he could be starting at right-back tonight.

Meanwhile, Eder Militao, who has been impeccable this season, is also expected to be rested, making way for Dean Huijsen, who is back after serving a suspension.

Chances for fringe players

As per the report, there will also be opportunities for some of the fringe players in the squad, such as Dani Ceballos, who has started only one game this whole season.

With Valverde expected to move to right-back, it creates an opening in midfield which the Spaniard could fill.

Furthermore, Brahim Diaz could also get the nod against Levante, potentially coming in for Franco Mastantuono on the right flank.

Vinicius Jr., though, is expected to retain his place in the starting lineup on the left flank ahead of Rodrygo.
