PSG are one of the clubs linked to Real Madrid standout Rodrygo over the past few months. During the summer transfer window, the Brazilian emerged as a potential target for the Parisians to bolster their attack.

Reports on PSG’s pursuit have pointed in different directions.  Foot Mercato’s Josué Cassé stated that Rodrygo wasn’t among their targets. Meanwhile, Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg indicated that both PSG and Liverpool have been closely monitoring him, with Tottenham Hotspur no longer in the running.

A move to PSG could still happen after the season if Rodrygo doesn’t see his role expand at Real Madrid. Interest from Premier League clubs has been quieter overall, though one team seems particularly eager to make a move.

Nonetheless, that vote of confidence from Xabi Alonso could be emerging. In Rodrygo’s last two La Liga games, he has a goal and an assist, and, more importantly, has played at least 80 minutes in both.

As a result, following a string of strong performances from Rodrygo, the situation has shifted, according to Defensa Central (h/t Foot01). The outlet reports that Alonso is now determined about the Seleção star’s future.

The former Bayer Leverkusen coach will no longer consider letting Rodrygo leave in January, no matter the size of any potential offers.

Alonso has admitted internally that he made a mistake by not giving Rodrygo enough playing time in the early months and plans to correct it in the second half of the season, deploying the Brazilian on the right flank, with Mbappé in the center and Vinicius on the left.
