Real Madrid appear to be positioning themselves for one of the biggest midfield moves in Europe.

The club’s long-standing search for a true orchestrator has led them to closely monitor Enzo Fernandez, and now, the player himself has added fresh fuel to the speculation.

Speaking recently in comments reported by AS, the Argentine midfielder made an eye-catching admission about his future preferences.

Enzo spoke about his admiration for Spain and specifically the Spanish capital, offering a glimpse into his mindset ahead of a potentially decisive summer.

“I’d like to live in Spain. I really like Madrid. It reminds me of Buenos Aires. I would live in Madrid.

“A player lives wherever he wants. I can get by in English, but I’d be better with Spanish,” he said.

Boost for Real Madrid

This statement arrives at a time when Real Madrid are actively looking to reinforce their midfield with a player capable of dictating tempo.

Enzo, with his technical quality, vision, and ability to operate under pressure, fits that profile perfectly.

At the same time, his current situation at Chelsea has not been entirely smooth. The Argentine international has endured a frustrating campaign, with the club failing to meet expectations both domestically and in Europe.

The disappointment reached a peak when Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

Within that context, Enzo’s openness to a change of environment becomes even more significant.

There is a growing feeling that the former Benfica midfielder is ready for the next step in his career and Real Madrid could offer exactly that.

However, completing such a deal will be anything but straightforward, as Enzo remains tied to Chelsea on a long-term contract, which gives the Premier League club a strong negotiating position.

Simply put, any move is expected to require a fee in the region of €100 million, making it one of the most expensive transfers of the summer.
