Real Madrid were rumoured to be targeting VfB Stuttgart’s star midfield talent Angelo Stiller for a move in the recently concluded transfer window, but the transfer never came to fruition.
A combination of factors were involved in the team’s ultimate decision not to go ahead with the move but Los Blancos do not lose sight of the player already.
After all, Xabi Alonso knows the player well from his time in the Bundesliga and sees him to be a good fit for his style of play.
Moreover, the fact that Stiller is represented by Toni Kroos’ Sports360 GmbH makes the move all the more likely.
As relayed in a recent update by Fabrizio Romano, Stiller’s future will be a major topic of discussion in the 2026 summer transfer window as he will be open to a move abroad at the time. Surprisingly, he was never close to leaving Stuttgart this summer.

The news of Real Madrid reaching an agreement with him in this year’s transfer window was false for there was never a complete agreement between Stiller and the Merengues over a move. His name was discussed internally and did not progress beyond that.
The 24-year-old German international made 31 Bundesliga starts for his side last season scoring one goal and providing eight assists in the process.
Stiller is capable of playing both as a defensive and an interior midfielder and could thus be a versatile option for Xabi Alonso’s midfield-heavy system.
Stiller’s contract with Stuttgart, however, runs until the summer of 2028 and it will be interesting to see how Los Blancos handle the transfer fee involved.
For starters, however, it remains to be seen if the manager continues to see a void in the squad.
