Real Madrid midfield unit to remain largely unchanged: no new signings, only one exit likely

Jose Mourinho arrived at Real Madrid like a man on a mission, wasting no time in wrapping up the signing of four stars: Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate.

For a while, it also looked like signing a Galactico midfielder was on their priority list, with Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea being touted as a likely option.

However, Los Blancos released an official statement denying interest in the Chelsea and Argentina midfielder and effectively closed that door.

Now, according to AS, Real Madrid’s midfield is expected to remain largely unchanged, with no further signings planned in that area.

The Spanish capital club do not intend to add another midfielder this summer. The only possible change would be the departure of Eduardo Camavinga.

Camavinga still in danger

The Frenchman’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain. Jose Mourinho is prepared to tell him that he will not have a major role, which could push Camavinga towards an exit.

That would be a painful decision. Camavinga is young, talented and still has huge upside, but Real Madrid’s squad is crowded and Mourinho wants clear roles.

If the coach does not see him as a central piece, then keeping him only to play a reduced role may not help anyone.

Los Blancos would not sell cheaply, of course. Camavinga is still a valuable asset, and any departure would need to bring in a strong fee.

Stability over another big move

The midfield decision makes sense. The squad already has serious midfield quality, with Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler and Bernardo Silva.

Adding another midfielder without resolving exits would only create more overcrowding. The key now is balance.

The Camavinga situation is worth watching. If he stays, it almost certainly means the midfield door is closed.

If he leaves, that could open the option of the club bringing in another midfielder, but that is something that will have to wait.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Camavinga and whether he stays at Real Madrid or wears another club’s jersey in the upcoming season.
