Dani Ceballos has always been an enigmatic figure at Real Madrid. In recent years, the midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu almost every other transfer window while injuries, too, have hurt his progress.
Despite all that, Ceballos has always managed to stay within Real Madrid’s first-team plans under Carlo Ancelotti, always stepping up when a teammate is suffering from an injury or lack of form.
This season has been no exception. Ceballos was suffering from injuries and an overall lack of prominence in the first-team during the first half of the campaign.
But since the turn of the year, the Spaniard has become a key outlet in the Real Madrid midfield, especially with Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga playing either in defence or lacking form.
In light of his recent prominence in Real Madrid’s first-team plans, it appears Ceballos might end up signing a contract extension this year.

According to Rodra P, the Spanish midfielder is closer to renewing his contract than leaving the Santiago Bernabeu right now, which is quite the turnaround for someone who had fallen way behind in the pecking order not more than six months ago.
Ceballos’ potential contract extension comes in the backdrop of Real Madrid reportedly planning for a quiet summer transfer window.
Despite the pressure to reinforce the team next season, it appears Los Blancos are gearing up for very little activity next summer, as far as the market is concerned, with Trent Alexander-Arnold being the only real target.
A lack of signings would make it imperative for Real Madrid to secure the futures of their existing options, including Ceballos.
The Spaniard’s extension could be complemented by Luka Modric also continuining for another year, with the veteran midfielder more than keen on renewing his contract.
