Wharton's name could very well liven up the 2026 transfer window, and Real Madrid appears ready to make a move.
Real Madrid monitoring Adam Wharton
Real Madrid continues to keep a close eye on the market ahead of the next transfer window, with particular attention on Adam Wharton, the 21-year-old defensive midfielder who is currently shining for Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Developed at Blackburn Rovers, Wharton joined Palace in 2024 for €21 million. Since then, his rise has been nothing short of meteoric, and his value continues to soar. His strong performances in England have even earned him a call-up to the national team, where he has already made his debut appearance.
In Madrid, Wharton is seen as a serious candidate to bolster the midfield, especially if Dani Ceballos leaves the club. But competition will be fierce: Chelsea and Manchester United are also closely tracking the player. While Crystal Palace's asking price has not yet been revealed, it is clear that a significant offer will be needed to persuade the London club, much like the €70 million transfer fee paid for Eberechi Eze.
