Real Madrid laboured to unlock Getafe at the Bernabeu and slipped to defeat, their composure fraying in a performance defined by frustration. Football Espana reports that their attack rarely clicked.
The contest turned during Antonio Rudiger’s chaotic spell. A weak header gifted Mauro Arambarri the winner, then he lost the ball in his box and narrowly escaped a red for retaliating against Diego Rico. After the break he also missed Madrid’s second-best chance.
Vinicius Junior was lively but largely contained by Juan Iglesias, and he missed Madrid’s one clear opening. Arda Guler showed intent and tested David Soria. Fede Valverde offered quality in phases but could have done more on the ball.
Thibaut Courtois was blameless for the goal and otherwise quiet. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s delivery misfired and he twice switched off at the back post, while Alvaro Carreras defended well but lacked thrust. David Alaba was steady, Aurelien Tchouameni was key in one press yet trailed Arambarri for the goal.
Debutant Thiago Pitarch’s energy impressed and he nearly found Vinicius, but Gonzalo Garcia was anonymous and loose in possession. From the bench, Dani Carvajal shut down Rico without adding width. Dean Huijsen conceded needless fouls and misplaced passes as Getafe saw it out.
Returning Rodrygo Goes drew a save from an angle but misjudged two promising balls. Franco Mastantuono delivered two dangerous crosses and a fine corner, then marred his cameo with a late red card. Brahim Diaz arrived in stoppage time with play already camped near Madrid’s end.
