Manchester United are desperate to get rid of Rasmus Hojlund, who endured a forgettable last season where he netted only four times in the Premier League.

Apart from his obvious lack of goals, what was most disappointing was his overall gameplay, with the Dane regularly failing to hold up the ball under pressure, while his first touch was abysmal.

Despite Ruben Amorim’s explicit wish to get a new striker, INEOS are aware it would not be easy to move the Denmark international on given his miserable form.

Which is why, in order to avoid incurring a loss on their books, the co-owners are open to loaning the 22-year-old out in a bid to get his confidence up as well as his market value.

Real Madrid like Rasmus Hojlund

Juventus and Inter Milan have emerged as potential suitors with Defensa Central adding Real Madrid’s name to list of Hojlund’s admirers.

Xabi Alonso needs an all-out striker as opposed to Kylian Mbappe playing up top, and Los Blancos would only have to cover the United No.9’s wages which are not too high.

Rasmus Hojlund is said to be delighted at the prospect of joining the Spanish giants and just like Joselu, he will definitely earn minutes but will need to be patient.

“Manchester United don’t count on Højlund for next year, but they don’t want to give him away after a poor year. He’s young, just 23, and had previously been guaranteed a year in Italy.

Real Madrid want Rasmus Hojlund on loan

“Now, the option of United loaning the player out next season to increase his value is on the table, and that’s where Xabi Alonso’s request for a striker comes into play. Real Madrid would only have to cover the player’s salary, which is high at around 5 million euros.

“As is normal, Hojlund would be delighted to join Real Madrid, despite having a very secondary role. It’s the best club in the world, and he could get his playing time, just as Joselu did in the 2023-2024 season. What you need is patience and hard work to ensure that opportunities come your way.”

The report seems to suggest an option or obligation might not be included as part of the loan deal as the Red Devils feel the ex-Atalanta striker can regain his confidence and subsequently come back as a better, more well-rounded player.

It would be preferable to sell him now, as there is no guarantee the Danish star can succeed in La Liga. It will be interesting to see what United ultimately do with him.
