In what comes as a major revelation, journalist Roberto Gomez on Radio MARCA has sensationally claimed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez would like to sign Barcelona midfield superstar Pedri.

It is no secret that Los Blancos are on the lookout for reinforcements in midfield heading into the summer transfer window.

Names ranging from established stars like Rodri and Vitinha to upcoming talents like Kees Smit and Adam Wharton have been mentioned as potential targets.

However, as per the journalist, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s real desire, when it comes to reinforcing the midfield, happens to be Barcelona and Spain maestro Pedri.

“The player Florentino Pérez and Real Madrid would like is Pedri,” the journalist said.

At the same time, though he acknowledged the difficulty in making such an operation come to fruition.

“What you like is one thing, what you can do is another,” Gomez added.

This is not the first time that such speculations have been floated, with the Merengues chief understood to be a big admirer of the former Las Palmas wonderkid.

It must be remembered that Perez was the one who signed Luis Figo from Barcelona over two decades ago.

However, a repeat of such a move with Pedri seems impossible. The midfielder is one of the Barcelona’s most important players and is protected by a long-term contract and an enormous release clause worth €1 billion.

So, while Perez would like to have someone like Pedri in this Real Madrid setup, any move for the Barcelona mainstay is simply unrealistic.
