Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme has released a statement saying Jurgen Klopp will be his choice for the manager’s job if he is elected this weekend.

Riquelme is up against the incumbent Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, in this Sunday’s election and believes he can convince Klopp to take the job.

Klopp has announced that he does not want to take a coaching job yet and rejected several chances to return to the dugout.

However, Riquelme believes that the challenge of Madrid is different and will entice the German tactician.

Riquelme has also said he has an agreement to sign Erling Braut Haaland and Rodri from Manchester City this summer.

The former’s agent has since denied any such agreement, and his representatives are considering legal options. Rodri did nothing to dispel the statement.

Perez has already hired former coach Jose Mourinho and agreed deals for Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.

Perez vs Riquelme & Mourinho vs Klopp

Mourinho is one of the most decorated coaches in modern football, but bringing him back to the Santiago Bernabeu would be a huge gamble.

His track record over the past decade has been marked by short-term success followed by dressing-room tensions, public disputes and declining performances.

Madrid know better than most that Mourinho can become a divisive figure.

His first spell delivered a La Liga title and memorable battles with Barcelona, but it also created significant turbulence around the club.

The Portuguese coach is a serial winner, but he looks increasingly like a manager from a previous era.

By contrast, Klopp represents a long-term vision.

His ability to rebuild squads, develop young players and create a strong collective identity transformed Liverpool into European and Premier League champions.

Madrid’s current squad is packed with elite talent, and Klopp’s man-management skills make him a far more natural fit.

Mourinho guarantees headlines. Klopp offers stability, progression and a genuine chance to build the next great Madrid dynasty.
