Florian Plettenberg reports that Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Franco Mastantuono. The 17-year-old will join the Spanish side after the Club World Cup, where the Argentine will play with his current side River Plate. Paris Saint-Germain, who also showed interest, have been informed of Mastantuono’s agreement to join Real, who will activate the players reported €45m release clause.
According to Plettenberg, Juni Calafat and José Ángel Sánchez were crucial in the deal while Xabi Alonso also spoke to Mastantuono – who has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 19 games this season – to present the player with plans on how the Spanish side will use the Argentine.
As noted by The Athletic, Real Madrid have good links with River Plate. They signed Gonzalo Higuain from the Argentine side in 2007 while Santiago Solari – who played for River and Real Madrid – is the current director of football at the Spanish giants.
