Trent Alexander-Arnold has not had the easiest start to life at Real Madrid, following his high-profile move from Liverpool earlier in the summer. He was dropped from the starting line-up for last weekend’s victory at Real Oviedo after a performance against Osasuna that attracted criticism from supporters.
In recent years, there has been a lot of scrutiny on Trent’s defensive ability, and he has struggled in this regard during his early stages at Real Madrid. And this has led to reports that he could be set to be replaced by Dani Carvajal as the regular right-back for Xabi Alonso – which in turn, has led to speculation about his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, Real Madrid have responded to these rumours in emphatic fashion. As per Marca, they have no doubt that Trent will be a vitally important player for both the present and future.

Real Madrid insist that Trent is still in the process of adapting and assimilating to playing for the club. There is a strong belief that he will soon be a perfect fit for what Alonso is asking of him, but even if it takes months, the plan is to continue counting on him.
It is clear that Trent is still adapting to life at Real Madrid, and because he spent so many years in the Premier League with Liverpool, it will take him for him to be fully comfortable in the Spanish capital.
During this process, it is natural for Carvajal to be a better fit, but as time goes on, Trent will be counted on more and more. The former is coming towards the end of his playing career, and there is no doubt within Real Madrid that they have his successor in the England international.
