With the season almost coming to an end, Real Madrid are already preparing for the season ahead, with the appointment of a new manager being one of the first things on the agenda.
The Real Madrid dressing room, after all, is not the best place to be at the moment, having seen growing unrest and even a brawl between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde.
Another key issue has been the lack of cohesion between the club’s top players in Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. The two have not synced at all and there is a growing power struggle evolving in the Real Madrid camp.
Neither Xabi Alonso nor Alvaro Arbeloa has managed to solve the problem and make the two work together. That’s what makes the appointment of a new manager even more important.
According to journalist Rodra of ESPN (h/t Madrid Zone), Real Madrid consider Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. as two of the top five players in the world right now.
Keeping that in mind, Los Blancos are looking for a manager who can control both of them and make them play in a cohesive manner.

That is where Jose Mourinho could be the ideal pick. The Portuguese tactician is a hot favourite to become the next Real Madrid manager, with talks already at an advanced stage.
Mourinho hasn’t managed at the elite level in a while. But he has a track record of managing big egos in a dressing room and is widely renowned for his own ego, which often trumps that of his players.
Even during his first stint at Real Madrid, Mourinho was managing a dressing room consisting of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria, Pepe and Sergio Ramos, among others.
Experience-wise, therefore, Mourinho certainly has what it takes to manage Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. together in the same team. Whether or not he can back that up with tactical acumen remains to be seen.
