Real Madrid star Federico Valverde has admitted that Carlo Ancelotti’s squad were left heavily emotionally affected by their most recent defeat at the hands of arch rivals Barcelona.
The latest edition of El Clásico is of course primed to play out on Sunday night.
As much will come in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Real Madrid, for their part, will head into the matchup with sights on revenge, after falling to an alarming defeat in their last showdown with Barcelona.
Back in October, in a La Liga meeting at the Santiago Bernabéu, Hansi Flick’s visitors ran riot en route to an eventual 4-0 triumph.
Speaking to the media in a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s renewal of rivalries between Spanish football’s two biggest clubs, the subject of his side’s drubbing at the hands of Barca was in turn put to Federico Valverde.
And the Blancos midfielder was not shy in admitting that:
“It was difficult for us to sleep after the last El Clásico.”
