Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, and that deal will have a knock-on effect for Franco Mastantuono. The 18-year-old has struggled to make his mark during his first 12 months in the Spanish capital, and with increased competition on the way, it is very likely that he departs on a temporary basis.
Real Madrid are still counting on Mastantuono, but the feeling is that he will not be in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the 2026-27 season. As such, Diario AS have reported that the call for him to be loaned out is expected soon.
The feeling is that Mastantuono would benefit for an Endrick Felipe-style loan during the upcoming campaign. The Brazilian forward, who also had a difficult start to his Real Madrid career, saw his stock rise on the back of a successful four-month spell at Lyon during the second half of last season, and now he’s seen as being ahead of the Argentine in the pecking order on the right side of attack.
Mastantuono is prepared to accept a loan exit this summer, knowing that he will not play very much if he stays at Real Madrid. In terms of possible destinations, he is wanted by former head coach Alvaro Arbeloa at Fulham, while Serie A side Fiorentina are also showing interest in taking him to Florence for the 2026-27 season.
However, Real Madrid would prefer Mastantuono to go somewhere else. Their desire would be for him to play for a club involved in European competition, as was the case with Endrick at Lyon. Clubs that fall into this category could enter the race in the coming weeks, but until then, the likelihood is that Fulham are favourites due to Arbeloa’s connection with the Bernabeu club.
