A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid could be forced to make do with a spot on the bench in the club’s upcoming showdown with Barcelona.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Rodrygo as the player in question.

Wide-man Rodrygo is for his part in the midst of a concerning recent stretch of individual form.

All told, the Brazilian has found the net just once in his last 20 appearances across all competitions (22 including international matches).

Add to this a lack of general impact in the final third, and Rodrygo could well find himself on the outside looking in this coming weekend.

As per a report from AS:

‘Rodrygo’s starting place (for the Copa del Rey final) is seriously in doubt.’

Carlo Ancelotti, it is understood, is giving consideration to fielding a four-man midfield behind a pairing of Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Jr. against Barcelona, leaving Rodrygo as the odd man out.
