Real Madrid star Arda Güler conjured up a genuine contender for La Liga’s Goal of the Season award on Saturday evening.

This came courtesy of a moment of utter genius during Los Blancos’ latest outing.

Real were of course back in action a short time ago, welcoming Elche to Spain’s capital for a league clash.

When all was said and done, Álvaro Arbeloa’s troops emerged on the right side of a 4-1 result, to close the gap on table-topping Barcelona to just a solitary point.

And it was the game’s fifth and final goal which marked the pick of the bunch.

Picking the ball up deep inside his own half, the aforementioned Arda Güler spotted Elche’s Matías Dituro off his line.

The Turk, in turn, stepped forward, before thundering an absolutely stunning long-range effort over the head of Dituro and in.

The La Liga Goal of the Season competition may well have been decided at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday night…
