Rodrygo Goes was the hero for Real Madrid in the team’s recent La Liga curtain-raiser against Mallorca. While indeed the 1-1 draw was disappointing, it was the Brazilian who opened the scoring on the night and was one of the best players on the field.

Needless to say, his display was a much-needed boost for his own confidence, especially considering the immense pressure he has been under in recent weeks.

In fact, the management also see his performance on the night to be one of the biggest positive takeaways from the game.

Vocal backlash

Publicly posting on his WhatsApp channel after the game, the Real Madrid winger left a message that has left the world talking.

“Hello guys, yesterday the result was not what we wanted. In La Liga, each point makes the difference in the end. I’m happy with the goal and the growth of the team,” he began.

The Brazilian gem then openly lashed out at haters who did not consider him fit to be part of Real Madrid’s attacking setup and coined the acronym BMV for Bellingham-Mbappe-Vinicius.

“Last week they talked about the trio of Bellingham, Mbappé and Vini (B-M-V), but they are going to have to add Rodrygo’s R to that acronym,” he said.

Elaborating on how he was hurt by the noise around him, Rodrygo even went on to explain how no player’s role should be belittled.

“We have a quartet of attackers and the rest of the team. Everyone has their importance in the matches and will show their value in the different competitions in which we participate.”

“The week will be full of hard work until our next game at the Bernabéu,” he added.

While the youngster put up the message at night, it was soon deleted especially because his entourage felt it may be misinterpreted and serve as the root cause for larger misunderstandings.

The deletion of the message is perhaps for the better, but one cannot say that Rodrygo’s message was flawed in any way. The youngster deserves to be an integral part of Real Madrid and will continue to be one for years to come.
