Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz has on Saturday secured for himself a piece of football history.

This comes courtesy of his exploits in the World Cup showdown between Morocco and Canada. Brahim was for his part in from the off at Houston Stadium, as Morocco set about securing a place in the quarter-finals of international football’s most high-profile tournament.

And en route to a dominant eventual triumph, the attacking midfielder played a starring role.

After a difficult opening 45 minutes for the Africans, Morocco burst into life following the interval in Texas, thanking Man of the Match Azzedine Ounahi for a brace.

Brahim, though, was the key creative presence, laying on the assists for The Atlas Lions’ 2nd and 3rd goals.

And as alluded to above, in the process, the former AC Milan man etched his name into the history books. As per journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Brahim Diaz makes history as African player with most assists in a single World Cup campaign. 4 assists in 5 games, currently second behind Olise at this World Cup.’
