Tensions within the Real Madrid dressing room continue to grow as details continue to emerge regarding the difficult relationship between Alvaro Carreras and manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

The left-back has endured a frustrating first season at the club, becoming one of the central figures in several internal disagreements inside the Madrid dressing room.

The defender had already clashed with Antonio Rudiger earlier in the campaign, while previous reports also pointed towards tensions between the player and Arbeloa.

Falling out with Arbeloa

According to those close to the situation, members of the coaching staff have questioned Carreras’ attitude and professionalism during the season.

Internally, there appears to have been disappointment regarding aspects of his behaviour, which contributed to his reduced role in the team during recent weeks.

Now, a new report from AS (h/t RM4 Arab)has added further detail to the situation.

The latest information claims Arbeloa responded sharply after Carreras expressed frustration over spending time on the bench.

As such, the Real Madrid manager told the player to ‘go and get his own coaching licence’.

The relationship between both figures has continued deteriorating despite Carreras returning to the starting XI against Real Oviedo.

Struggling for stability

Carreras’ lack of minutes in recent matches has only increased the tension surrounding his situation.

The defender was left as an unused substitute in three of Real Madrid’s last four matches, including important fixtures against Real Betis, Espanyol and Barcelona.

For a player who arrived hoping to establish himself at one of the biggest clubs in the world, the sudden loss of prominence has clearly been difficult to accept.

Fortunately for the left-back, with Arbeloa not expected to continue on the Real Madrid bench for the 2026/27 campaign, the defender may soon receive a completely fresh opportunity to rebuild his standing inside the squad.

In football, relationships between managers and players often define careers.

Some coaches naturally connect better with certain personalities, while tensions with others can quickly affect confidence and playing time.

For Carreras, the upcoming managerial transition could therefore become a massive turning point.
