According to an update shared by Guillermo Rai in The Athletic, Real Madrid have received encouraging news regarding Dean Huijsen

This is because Sources close to the centre-back have confirmed that, unlike earlier in the season, Huijsen is now completely physically fit and operating at full capacity.

The update suggests that Huijsen is finally free from the discomfort that troubled him towards the end of 2025.

Despite those issues, the young centre-back continued to play through pain during that period, raising concerns internally about his long-term condition.

Those worries now appear to have eased, with Madrid staff confident that the defender is 100% ready.

This development comes at a crucial time for Real Madrid, who have been stretched defensively for much of the season.

Notably, the coaching staff remain concerned by the ongoing absences of several key defenders, including Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Dani Carvajal, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

With depth already tested, Huijsen’s availability has become increasingly important.

The Spaniard’s fitness has been a topic of discussion ever since his high-profile move from Bournemouth to Real Madrid

While expectations were high following the transfer, his early months in Spain were disrupted by physical setbacks, creating uncertainty around his readiness to handle regular minutes at the highest level.

That uncertainty was reflected in his absence from the opening match of 2026 against Real Betis, as well as the Spanish Super Cup semi-final clash with Atletico Madrid.

At the time, there was little clarity surrounding his condition.

Since making his return in the final against Barcelona, Huijsen has steadily increased his involvement.

He has featured in each of Madrid’s last five matches, although he was substituted in three of those appearances.

Crucially, however, he completed the full 90 minutes in the last two fixtures against Villarreal and AS Monaco.

That consistency is seen internally as a clear sign that Huijsen has finally overcome his fitness problems.
