With 2026 just around the corner, one of Real Madrid’s priorities is to renew the contract of Vinicius Junior, which expires in 2027.

Failing to reach an agreement in the coming months could see the Brazilian enter the final 12 months of his contract, paving the way for European giants to eye a Bosman move for the player.

However, recent reports suggest Real Madrid have made progress with regards to Vinicius’ contract extension. But the player has made one key demand.

Vinicius’ big demand for Real Madrid

According to Defensa Central, Vinicius is willing to reach an agreement with Real Madrid over a new contract.

This is despite the fact that Real Madrid are not offering the kind of salary the Brazilian international is demanding right now.

However, Vinicius has made one key demand in order to go ahead with the negotiations. He wants his release clause value to be lowered.

The Brazilian attacker currently has a €1 billion release clause embedded in his contract at Real Madrid, effectively forcing interested parties to directly negotiate with the club.

But Vinicius has demanded the salary to be lowered to €300 million, which is a much more attainable fee for some of the big football clubs in Europe and the Saudi Arabian teams.

Although such a figure would still make Vinicius the most expensive player in the history of football, it opens for him to leave in the future without relying on Real Madrid to ratify the deal.

Such an arrangement would be favourable for Saudi Arabia, in particular, as they have the kind of financial muscle to afford the player’s release clause.
