Real Madrid have suffered a transfer setback after fresh reports revealed that highly-rated winger Yan Diomande is edging closer to a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old has verbally agreed to a five-year contract with the French champions, with salary terms and personal details already settled. 

PSG are now preparing to open formal negotiations with RB Leipzig as they look to complete one of the most intriguing deals involving Europe’s emerging talents.

The development comes as a blow for Real Madrid, who had been closely monitoring the Ivory Coast international following his rapid rise over the past year.

PSG gain advantage over Real Madrid

The Yan Diomande transfer saga appears to be moving in PSG’s favour after the player communicated his desire to join the Parisian club.

The journalist reports that the teenager has already given his approval to the project presented by PSG, leading the Ligue 1 giants to accelerate their plans.

The French side had been waiting for a positive signal from the player before intensifying negotiations, and that green light has now arrived.

PSG are expected to begin talks with Leipzig in the coming days, although the transfer fee remains one of the biggest obstacles.

Reports suggest the Bundesliga side values Diomande at around €130 million, a figure that PSG are currently reluctant to match.

Nevertheless, after having agreed personal terms with the player, signing him would not be a difficult task for the European champions.

As a result, negotiations between both clubs could take time despite the player’s apparent preference for a move to Paris.

It must be remembered that Real Madrid have been following Yan Diomande for several months and viewed him as one of the most exciting prospects available.

The teenager’s performances for the Ivory Coast during the World Cup only strengthened that interest.

Scouts from Real Madrid were present during the Ivory Coast’s opening fixture against Ecuador, where Diomande delivered an outstanding display.

The winger played a decisive role in the victory and capped off his performance by collecting the Man of the Match award.

However, despite Real Madrid’s long-standing admiration, the player appears to have prioritised PSG as the next destination in his career.
