Real Madrid target seriously considering three options for the summer window – report | OneFootball

Real Madrid are set to enter the market in the summer of 2026 for a new central defender, with David Alaba’s time at the club winding down.

The Merengues are looking for a top defender but are reluctant to spend big, which is why they have identified soon-to-be free agents such as Ibrahima Konate, Dayot Upamecano, and Marc Guehi as possible targets.

As reported earlier this week, though, Real Madrid have ended their pursuit of Konate, which seemingly puts Upamecano as the leading target for the Spanish capital club.

Upamecano weighing up three options

Now, according to BILD (h/t Madrid Zone), Upamecano, for his part, is seriously considering only three options for his next move in 2026.

The 27-year-old towering defender has a number of top clubs across Europe pursuing his signing, but he will only consider the following three options – renewal at Bayern Munich, or a move to Real Madrid or PSG.

The French international is not thinking about any other options or clubs at the moment.

Upamecano, despite enduring a tough outing against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, has generally been top-notch for Bayern Munich this season.

The 27-year-old’s consistent performances have been one of the driving forces behind the Bavarians’ fine start to the new campaign.

So, it makes sense that a host of top clubs are eyeing the defender, with Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona also understood to be an admirer.

However, at the moment, Upamecano is only considering three choices – Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, or PSG. He will not entertain any other proposals as things stand.

Only time will tell whether Real Madrid come out on top in the race for the star defender’s signing come summer.
