The rise of Gonzalo Garcia for Real Madrid during the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup has been extraordinary. Not many saw the youngster making the sort of impact that he has, but he has stepped up game after game and produced vital goal contributions.

The academy graduate made complete use of the opportunities he earned in Kylian Mbappe’s absence and even benched the Frenchman in Los Blancos’ games against Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

Needless to say, he is set to stay at the club and serve as a backup to Mbappe even after the Frenchman regains his starting position and his rise will come as massive news for Los Blancos. One player who will not be as happy with the development, however, will be Endrick.

A clear message

The young Brazilian struggled for minutes under Carlo Ancelotti last season and was expected to earn his big break this term with Alonso at the helm. Garcia’s rise, however, means that he is now third in the manager’s pecking order at centre-forward.

Needless to say, his situation immediately led to speculations about a potential departure given that he will likely not see many minutes behind Garcia and Mbappe.

Now, however, The Athletic reports that Endrick’s entourage insists that he will not leave this summer.

Having spent just a year at the club, the Brazilian prodigy backs himself to earn a place in Alonso’s plans despite the sudden increase in competition. He spent the initial phase of the competition out through injury but is now back in the squad.

Endrick is not expected to earn a debut in the competition at this stage given what’s at stake and the quality of the opposition.

His best option, if he chooses to stay, will be to keep working hard and prove his point after the start of the new league season.

Last season, the teenage star scored one goal for Real Madrid in La Liga and five goals in the Copa del Rey, making decent use of his chances. Needless to say, his time to prove his talent will arrive soon.
