Real Madrid made yet another huge coup in the transfer market yesterday by verbally reaching an agreement to sign Marc Cucurella.
The Chelsea defender is set to join Los Blancos on a long-term contract, becoming the fourth such player who has agreed a move to Santiago Bernabeu, though none of them have been officially announced by the club.
Fabrizio Romano has already given his seal of approval for the transfer, adding that the transfer will be made official after the World Cup.
Romano has now offered a key update to the Cucurella transfer deal, adding that the move could be announced as soon as today.
This is a significant development given that Real Madrid were initially expected to announce it after the World Cup.
This also comes after Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez giving his ‘approval’ through some of his actions on social media, sparking further buzz and tension surrounding Cucurella’s status at Chelsea.
Therefore, it would make sense why Real Madrid could be allowed to officiate the deal early, knowing Cucurella will 100% play for Los Blancos next season.
According to Romano, the Cucurella deal is now signed and sealed and it is only a matter of time before it gets officiated.

Real Madrid will pay Chelsea a fixed fee of €55 million plus a further €5 million in add-ons, taking the total package to €60 million.
The Blues have already allowed Cucurella to undergo his medical tests, a clear sign that all sides are pushing to wrap up the formalities without delay.
Cucurella, though, is currently occupied with international duty as he is a key player for the Spanish team that will look to kickstart their campaign today against Cape Verde.
The Chelsea defender is likely to start in that game ahead of another former Barcelona player in Alejandro Grimaldo.
Real Madrid will certainly keep an eye on Cucurella’s performance, as he looks set to become the club’s first-choice left-back next season.
