Real Madrid are prioritising RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, placing any move for Manchester City’s Rodri on hold.

According to AS, Madrid have agreed a five-year contract with the 19-year-old Ivorian, though formalities are delaying completion.

The club had expected to finalise the transfer at the start of the week. Until the deal is signed off, they are not pursuing further signings.

Initial contact with City had been scheduled for yesterday to gauge their demands, but Los Blancos postponed the meeting.

Considerable persuasion was required in the boardroom even to consider signing the Spaniard, and the delay has made him the casualty.

Carlos Espí was unveiled yesterday after a €25 million move, yet Diomande remains the hierarchy’s overriding priority.
