The fragile truce between Real Madrid's Florentino Pérez and Barcelona's Joan Laporta has shattered, reigniting a bitter rivalry that now centers on the escalating Negreira case. Madrid is taking an increasingly aggressive legal posture in the matter, marking a significant escalation in tensions.
As reported by Diario AS, Real Madrid has formally demanded that Barcelona hand over a comprehensive set of internal financial documents spanning from 2010 to 2018. The requested records include detailed accounting statements, payment details to specific companies like Nilsad, Dasnil 95, and Soccercam, alongside audit reports, legal communications, and even minutes from the club's tax meetings. Furthermore, Madrid is insisting on the right to question key Barcelona official Carles Naval, the club's match delegate.
In a move that signals the potential for a prolonged legal battle, Real Madrid is also considering a separate civil lawsuit against its arch-rival once the current proceedings conclude. According to AS, this could involve seeking substantial financial compensation—potentially amounting to millions of euros—for alleged sporting damages Madrid believes it suffered due to Barcelona's payments. While other La Liga clubs have adopted a more passive role, Real Madrid has positioned itself as an active plaintiff in the ongoing case concerning alleged sporting corruption.
