Endrick’s comments come just days after an ideal debut for Lyon. The Brazilian scored the decisive goal in his first appearance, sealing a 2–1 win over Lille and sending his new side into the next round of the French Cup.

It was the perfect introduction for a player determined to prove himself and one who still considers himself a Madridista at heart.

On Perez and Alonso

One of the key questions put to Endrick was whether Florentino Perez had reached out to him following his move.

Providing context on his relationship with the club president, Endrick said, “The president always helped everyone with everything, and I was no exception.

“He understood my desire to play consecutive games… and he was generous as always.”

The interview also touched on the departure of Xabi Alonso, a coach who left a lasting impression on the young forward during his time in Madrid.

Reflecting on Alonso’s exit and what he took from working under him, Endrick explained,

“I learned a lot from Xabi in Madrid. He was a top-level player and knows football very well.

Although I was injured for a long time and couldn’t train with everyone, I benefited greatly from what I heard from him.”

Asked about the physical demands of Ligue 1 compared to La Liga, Endrick rejected the idea that French football would pose a problem.

“France and Spain have two of the best national teams in the world. They have won a lot in recent years.”

He continued, “Both leagues demand a lot of physical preparation, mental agility, and technique.”

Pushing back against common stereotypes, Endrick added, “I don’t think one is more technical and the other more physical.

“Players come from all over the world to play for the top clubs in both leagues.”

Drawing on his own experience, he concluded, “I’ve always played with players older than me, ever since I was a kid, and I’ve always had to push myself physically.

“The truth is, I don’t see it as a problem.”

Reaffirming his commitment

Finally, Endrick addressed Real Madrid supporters directly. While reaffirming his love for the club, he made it clear that his focus is fully on Lyon for now.

Sending a heartfelt message, he said, “I’m very happy with all the love from the Real Madrid fans, and I hope they all pray that I can win a title here in Lyon.”

He ended with a touching request: “The fans will be cheering on Real Madrid in the Champions League, but I also hope they put some of their heart into cheering on Lyon in the Europa League.”
