Despite having joined Real Madrid only last summer for more than €60 million, the young forward Franco Mastantuono is already seemingly close to leaving the Merengue club. However, he will leave only temporarily this summer, as Los Blancos are looking to send him to a team that can offer him regular playing time.
The Argentine was not a part of the squad for the friendly match against Fiorentina, and has also not trained with his teammates in the two days following that game. The reason for his absence is not an injury or another physical problem, but the fact that he is close to completing a departure on loan.
Until recently, it was unclear which side he will pick, as several clubs were interested in him. He himself wanted to return to River Plate, but Real Madrid closed this option for him, as they wanted him to continue his adaptation in Europe. Three Italian clubs also showed interest in him, including AC Milan, Napoli, and Fiorentina.
Now, according to MARCA, the player has already made his decision, as he has given his word to Fiorentina that he will play for them next season. Now, the Serie A side is negotiating with Real Madrid the terms of his loan.
The Viola were the first one to make a move for the Argentine, and their confidence in the player is bearing fruit, as they have got his nod for a loan. Another factor that convinced the forward to choose Fiorentina was their willingness to let him play in his desired attacking midfielder role.
For now, Real Madrid and Fiorentina need to work out his salary distribution, and once an agreement on this aspect is reached, Franco Mastantuono will be able to travel to Italy to begin an important chapter in his career.
