Real Madrid’s youth system continues to see changes this summer, with another La Fabrica talent heading for the exit.

This time, it is Edgar Pujol, a 20-year-old centre-back who joined Los Blancos in 2019 from Espanyol’s academy. After six years with the youth team, the Dominican Republic international is now set for a new challenge.

Following in the footsteps of Victor Munoz, Youssef Enriquez, and Rafael Obrador, who have moved to Osasuna, Alavés, and Benfica, respectively, Pujol has agreed to part ways with Real Madrid.

Accoridng to a report from Mundo Deportivo, it is said that his next destination will be Racing de Ferrol, a club recently relegated from Spain’s second division to the 1ªRFEF, which is the third category of the Spanish football league system.

The move is expected to give Pujol the first-team minutes he needs to continue developing.

Heartfelt message from Pujol

Pujol announced his departure with a personal farewell on social media, expressing gratitude to the club and those who supported him during his time at Real Madrid.

“Today, I say goodbye to what has been my home for the past six years. Thank you to Real Madrid for allowing me to grow both as a footballer and as a person at this great club,” he wrote.

He went on to mention the many people who played a part in his journey: “I want to thank all the coaches, staff members, doctors, physios, kit men, and everyone at Valdebebas.

“Of course, I also thank my teammates, who I’ve shared unforgettable moments with. And to the fans, thank you for your love and support.”

Pujol’s message ended with a simple but heartfelt line: “I’m leaving with a bag full of lessons and memories. I wish you all the best. Hala Madrid.”

The defender leaves on a free transfer after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract.

His exit is part of Real Madrid’s ongoing process of reshaping their academy as players seek opportunities to make the leap into professional football.
