Real Madrid youngster was ‘one step away’ from AC Milan over the summer | OneFootball

An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid came close to a move to Italy with AC Milan over the summer.

That’s according to market insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Jesús Fortea as the player in question.

Youngster Fortea, for his part, is an 18-year-old defender, who chiefly operates at right-back.

The Spaniard has long been making a name for himself as a potential future star in the making, held in high regard across La Liga and beyond.

In turn, it may come as something of a surprise to learn that, at one point this past summer, Fortea came close to a move away from Real Madrid.

As per the aforementioned Matteo Moretto, as cited by ‘Madrid Xtra’ on ‘X’ (and reposted by Moretto himself), the starlet was ‘one step away’ from joining AC Milan.

The transfer ultimately collapsed, however, upon Xabi Alonso directly intervening, making clear his belief in Fortea’s ability to contribute at senior level down the line.

The full-back, in turn, went on to put pen to paper on a new contract.
