More than 26,000 Real Sociedad supporters are plotting a 916 km journey to Sevilla for the Copa del Rey final against Atlético de Madrid. According to Diario Vasco, with nine days to go, fans are weighing cars, coaches, planes and a one-off train, while a planned air-traffic controllers’ strike from Friday 17 April and recent fuel rises loom over itineraries.

Many will drive, some staying in Sevilla and others nearby to cut costs. A return by car is put at about 250 euros for 1,832 km. A 2,000-space car park for members will operate beside the fan zone on Saturday 18.

Caravans have at least 150 fan-zone spots at 10 euros a night, far cheaper than 200-700 euro hotel rates. Coaches are especially popular, with 16 buses sold out at 129-159 euros, leaving Anoeta at 23.30 on Friday 17 and returning at 07.00 on Sunday 19 after an 11-hour run.

Flying is the costliest and simplest option, but an indefinite walkout by USCA and CCOO from 00.00 on Friday 17 at Saerco-run towers, including Sevilla and Jerez, could disrupt plans.

As of yesterday, direct Bilbao to Sevilla returns were on sale from 358 euros, with other direct options at 372 and 525 euros.

Two charter planes will fly from Vitoria-Gasteiz on Saturday after 05.30 coach transfers from Larratxo and Anoeta, returning post-match, carrying 378 fans for under 500 euros. A charter train leaves San Sebastián at 02.00 on Saturday, stops at Tolosa and Zumarraga, arrives at La Cartuja at 10.00 and returns after the game for 299 euros.
