Real Sociedad delivered a collective performance in the second leg, capped by Mikel Oyarzabal’s penalty, to take them to La Cartuja. A disciplined rearguard underpinned the night.

Marrero looked nervous early on but had little to do, then preserved the clean sheet with a late stop from Vesga. From the bench, Yangel brought intensity, though he could have measured himself better, and helped when Athletic pushed Real back. Marín worked tirelessly in midfield and won the penalty that Oyarzabal scored. Oskarsson saw little of the ball, Sucic arrived in stoppage time to draw a save from Padilla and Aihen also appeared too late to influence things.
