The saga of Vinicius Jr’s contract renewal has been ongoing for a reasonable time now with interest from Saudi Arabia even briefly interrupting discussions between the player and the club.
Given that his contract runs out in June 2027 and the importance he holds in their project, the Real Madrid administration have made it one of their priorities to tie the player down to the club for the years to come.
While Vinicius desires the same, his economic demands have not suited Real Madrid’s budget.
The arrival of Kylian Mbappe and the Frenchman’s massive wages may indeed be a factor on Vinicius’ mind, but the result has seen talks between the two parties stagnate.
As confirmed in a recent report by Rodra, the precise reason for the stalling in negotiations over the talisman’s contract renewal is the player’s entourage who feel the sum Real Madrid offer their client does not do justice to his importance.

Real Madrid currently offer the player wages of €20 million with no bonuses as part of their latest proposal and sees their offer to be appropriate.
Vinicius’ entourage, however, demands a salary of €20 million as a fixed sum with an additional €10 million in variables, making it a contract valued at €30 million per year in net terms.
Fred Pena and Tassilo Soares are the players’ agents and the decision makers on his behalf. As it stands, they downright reject Real Madrid’s offer and see it to be too low to commit three more years at the club.
It thus remains to be seen if Real Madrid budge and appease the Brazilian’s agents or stand firm on their ground, especially given that the player has looked off colour for a long time now.
After a disappointing run last season and an unimpressive start to the new season in pre-season friendlies, the coming campaign will be a massive one for the young winger to prove that he is still among the best in the world in his position and perhaps force his salary demands through.
