Reece James has labelled Nicolas Jackson an “amazing” player and admitted playing against him will be a tough task.
Chelsea return to the Champions League on Wednesday night and face a difficult game against German champions Bayern Munich.
The Blues return to the stadium where arguably the greatest night in the club’s history took place when they won their first Champions League title back in 2012.
The game against Bayern represents the opportunity for Chelsea to test themselves against a top quality opposition and see how far this team have come.
The game will also see Chelsea come up against Jackson after he completed a loan move to Bayern on deadline day, which includes an obligation to buy based on making a certain number of appearances.
James and Jackson were team-mates for two years at Chelsea.
Jackson admitted he was emotional leaving Chelsea, and he’s eligible to play against the Blues on Wednesday night, in what will be a very interesting sub plot.
Chelsea of course know all about Jackson, and James has admitted it would be tough coming up against the Senegal international.
“I know Nicolas very well,” he told his pre-match press conference.
“He’s an amazing player. Playing against him will be tough, but on the other hand it will help me out because I kind of know the way he plays.”
James appeared to confirm he would be starting on Wednesday evening, having started just one of Chelsea’s opening four Premier League games.

The 25-year-old is the only remaining member of the squad still at the club from the Champions League triumph back in 2021.
It will no doubt be a special moment for James as he leads his boyhood club out in the competition for the first time, but he will be in for a tough evening most likely coming up against former Liverpool man Luis Diaz.
