Real Madrid could be without Franco Mastantuono for multiple games after he was shown a straight red for dissent in Monday night’s home defeat to Getafe.
Diario AS reports that Alejandro Muniz dismissed the teenager after recording that he twice shouted, “What a disgrace, what a f***ing disgrace.”
The flashpoint followed deep stoppage time frustration, with Getafe running down the clock after a free-kick in Madrid’s half. Muniz stopped play, turned towards Mastantuono, then produced the red card.
After the match, manager Alvaro Arbeloa called the behaviour unacceptable and criticised the youngster’s lack of composure.
Under disciplinary regulations, disrespect towards officials is punishable by a two to three game suspension, so Mastantuono may receive more than the automatic one match, with two often applied in similar cases.
That would sideline him for Friday’s trip to Celta Vigo at Balaidos. He is also likely to miss the home meeting with Elche the following week, sandwiched between Manchester City’s Champions League ties, and should in theory return for Atletico Madrid at the Bernabeu on 22nd March.
