Régis Le Bris is the subject of renewed speculation over his long-term future at Sunderland.
According to talkSPORT, his position is one to watch amid an expected summer of Premier League managerial changes, and a dugout change could not be ruled out if the Black Cats fail to make the top six.
Sunderland are 11th in the Premier League, four points off the European places, after exceeding expectations in their first season back in the top flight.
Le Bris signed a long-term contract last season, having masterminded promotion from the Championship, and has since kept the team in a stable position. There has been no indication from within the club that his job is under immediate threat as work continues under his leadership.
The report added that owners Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Juan Sartori have not ruled out assessing alternatives. Sunderland face Nottingham Forest on Friday evening.
